Velvet Felt
Angie is a boater made from velvet felt, an exceptionally soft, waterproof fabric. Velvet felt also has the advantage of being flattering. Its velvety appearance reflects on facial features. Like the company’s other hats, Angie is extremely lightweight, thanks to the designer’s skill and dexterity of its designer.
The history of the boater hat
The canotier is an oval-shaped straw hat, with a flat cap base like its brims. First of all, the name boater hat derives from an item of sailors’ summer uniform in the mid-19ᵉ century. This hat was used by the canotiers, i.e. the sailors who loaded the boats with various goods.
Later, the canotier hat became popular with high society. They wanted to dress their children as little sailors. Maurice Chevalier gave the canotier its letters of nobility, wearing it so often that it became an integral part of his character.

How do we wrap our hats ?
First of all, Fabienne Delvigne carefully wraps the hats in tissue paper. They are, then placed in a black hat box designed by Fabienne Delvigne. These boxes are made to measure for the House.
Next, we place a certificate of authenticity next to the hat. Finally, we delicately perfume the hat with Eau de Cashmere by Guerlain. A souvenir of a wonderful collaboration between our two Houses.
