The beach, little streets and sunny days of the Costa del Sol inspired the designer to create this hat. She made it in panama, a light, classic material perfect for summer, and added a ribbon made especially for the Maison in Italy. This straw panama reflects the cheerfulness of the vacations, with its Italian ribbon woven especially for the House, which wanted shimmering colors for this summer.

How do we wrap our hats ?
- First, we carefully wrap the hat in silk paper.
- Then we place it in a hatbox designed by Fabienne Delvigne. These are specially designed for the Maison.
- Next, we place a certificate of authenticity next to the hat.
- Finally, we delicately perfume it with Guerlain’s Eau de Cashemire. This step reminds us of a beautiful collaboration between the two Houses.
The History of the Panama Hat
Panama hats are made from vegetable fibres. Despite their name, they aren’t of Panamanian but of Ecuadorian origin. Contrary to popular belief, “panama” is not a form of hat. In fact, it is a material made from a hand-woven fabric made from young palm shoots from Ecuador. Therefore, a trilby hat, a fedora hat or a floppy hat could very well be considered a panama hat!
It is Theodore Roosevelt who popularized it by wearing it during his visit to the building sites of the Panama Canal in 1906. This hat has since become a must-have accessory for sunny days.
